MESSY EATER’S ODE TO TAKING THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE

Artist: Messy Eater

Title: Anything for an easy life

Date: 1 May 2026

Label: Nutritious Sounds

Since launching in late 2024, Messy Eater has emerged as “one of the most creative alternative pop acts currently operating in the UK” (Plastic Mag). In only 18 months, he has played a standout debut live session for BBC Introducing, a sold out Sofar Sounds show and on the main stage at the historic York Theatre Royal as one of 10 “Breakthrough Artists” at the Aesthetica Festival. Receiving editorial support from Apple Music, Messy Eater has been championed by Amazing Radio (Tom Robinson, Jim Gellatly and Shell Jenner) and BBC Introducing (Jericho Keys).

Following the January release of ‘Learning to love what I see in the mirror’ (“a warm, hook-filled moment of self-acceptance built for modern anxieties and late-night singalongs” - Introvert Disco) and the March release of ‘Vibe killer’ (“everything the indie-pop world is missing… cutting edge cool” - Dancing About Architecture), Messy Eater continues to unveil his forthcoming Comfort Food EP with the release of third single ‘Anything for an easy life’.

Built on a sunny, laidback live drum and bon tempi rhythm track, ‘Anything for an easy life’ lopes along with an irresistible, lazy Sunday groove.  With relatable, tongue-in-cheek lyrics musing on the weary disenchantment we all sometimes feel about modern living, Messy Eater nods to Voltaire’s classic satire ‘Candide’, singing: “here’s another story / about life’s unending glory / the best of all possible worlds”.  The track then breaks briefly for Messy Eater to sing “life doesn’t need to be so hard” before bursting into a soaring, widescreen chorus.  As the track continues to unfurl, Messy Eater mixes up a colourful array of sounds, taking in 70s yacht rock electric pianos, easy listening vocal samples, bubbling analogue synths and 90s hip hop drum loops.  It’s a playful and joyous ode to taking the path of least resistance

Messy Eater is the new music and illustration solo project from an artist whose previous projects have been supported by NME, The Guardian, Notion and BBC Radio 1.  Drawing comparisons with Gorillaz, Beck, The Flaming Lips and The Avalanches, Messy Eater has been championed by BBC Introducing, Apple Music, Amazing Radio and many press supporters of emerging talent.
