Since launching in late 2024, Messy Eater has emerged as “one of the most creative alternative pop acts currently operating in the UK” (Plastic Mag).

Recently added to the Camper Calling festival line-up alongside Nile Rodgers & Chic and Primal Scream, Messy Eater’s first 18 months have been incredible.  Receiving regular editorial support from Apple Music, Messy Eater has been championed by Amazing Radio (Tom Robinson, Jim Gellatly and Shell Jenner) and BBC Introducing (Jericho Keys).  He has also played a standout debut live session for BBC Introducing, a sold out Sofar Sounds show and at the historic York Theatre Royal as one of 10 “Breakthrough Artists” at Aesthetica Festival.

His new EP, ’Comfort Food’, immediately captivates with opener ‘Happy place’ - the analogue crackling string sample intro swelling to an infectious cowbell, drum and bass groove before hitting its euphoric chorus - all stacked “yeah yeah” harmony vocals and retro soul brass stabs.  The lyric captures the life-affirming mood: “I’ve got you by my side / love in my mind / I’m gonna take it out to the countryside”.  The track then takes a wild ride through stylistic changes in Messy Eater’s inimitable way - a high-energy, semi-rapped second verse and a subdued bridge - before climaxing with a return to the chorus.  It’s an emotional sunburst that will also move your feet.

‘Comfort Food’ continues with previously released singles - ‘Learning to love what I see in the mirror’ (“a warm, hook-filled moment of self-acceptance built for modern anxieties and late-night singalongs” - Introvert Disco), ‘Vibe killer’ (“everything the indie-pop world is missing… cutting edge cool” - Dancing About Architecture) and ‘Anything for an easy life’ (“an anti-productivity anthem performed with laidback flair” - York Calling) - before closing with ‘Bad day (lemonade)’ - a warm, relatable and uplifting finale to the EP.

Messy Eater is the new music and illustration solo project from an artist whose previous projects have been supported by NME, The Guardian, Notion and BBC Radio 1.  Drawing comparisons with Gorillaz, Beck, The Flaming Lips and The Avalanches, his ‘Comfort Food’ EP is out on 26 June 2026.
